

Bobby Eugene Barney, 85, of Richmond, VA passed away on April 3, 2018. He was born in Winston-Salem, NC on April 3, 1933. He graduated from Clemmons High School. He was married to Maxine Nichols on September 12, 1959. Bobby served in the US Army. While living in Winston-Salem Bob and his deceased brother Jack owned and operated several restaurants. Bob and his family moved to Richmond in 1974, where he owned and operated The Warwick Restaurant for many years, and was Vice-President of Rees Jewelers until he retired. He was a member of Bethany Place Baptist Church in Richmond. Bob, Maxine, and several of their friends from Winston-Salem enjoyed summer trips together years after their moving to Richmond. Bob had a passion for golf and enjoyed sharing his talent for cooking with others. Bob is predeceased by his parents, Fred and Cecil; brothers, Bill and Jack; and sisters-in-law, Louise and JoAnn. He is survived by his wife, Maxine Barney; children, Dawn Roy (Joseph) of Richmond, VA and Christopher Barney (Ronda) of Carrollton, TX; grandchildren, Aaron Roy, Andrew Roy, Seth Barney, and Raegan Barney; sisters, Betty Burke (Buddy) of Clemmons, NC, Manchel Tesh (Bob) of Advance, NC, Brenda Swain of Winston-Salem, NC; brother, Jerry Barney (Karen) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Woody Funeral Home – Huguenot Chapel on Sunday, April 8th from 2-4 pm. A graveside service will be held at Dale Memorial Park on Monday, April 9th at 11:00 am.
