

BROWN, David Patrick, 63, of Midlothian, departed this life on Tuesday, October 25, 2011, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Dave was born on July 31, 1948, in Quincy, Illinois to the late Gilbert and Dorothy Hagenbaumer Brown. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Brown; and a brother, Richard Brown. Dave graduated from Quincy High School in 1966. He was a 1970 graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University where he was a member of the golf team and the SIGMA CHI fraternity. He was also a 1977 graduate of Illinois State University with an MBA. A member of the United States Army from 1970 to 1973, Dave was stationed in Okinawa and proudly served in the Army Security Agency. Dave was a Human Resource professional and was retired from Philip Morris, USA. He was a member of New Life United Methodist Church, having served as the Chairman of the Staff Parish Relations Committee for several years.
Dave enjoyed spending time with his family and especially enjoyed the Brown Family Fourth of July celebrations in Quincy. Dave enjoyed listening to music of many genres and, as a percussion major in college, won many awards for his musical percussion performances. He was a fan of Drum and Bugle Corps, especially the Santa Clara Vanguard. He loved the game of golf and enjoyed working in the yard. Dave was enthusiastic about coaching Little League Baseball and was an avid New York Yankees fan.
Dave will be mourned, missed, and always remembered by his loving family, wife, Ann; his daughter, Amy (Andrew) Tomsheck, of Huntersville, N.C.; his son, Jeff (Angie) Brown of Elkhart, Ind.; his sons, Patrick Brown and Stuart Brown of Midlothian; his brothers, Ronald Brown of Florida, Michael Brown of Texas; his sister, Judie Groniger of Wisconsin; and his grandchildren, Emily, Madison, Alex, Lily and Conner. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful caregivers at Sunrise at Bon Air and to the supportive staff of Hospice Community Care.
His remains rest at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday (today) and where funeral services will be held 12 noon Thursday. Interment will follow at Westhampton Memorial Park.
