Dorothy Farish Pickett

PICKETT, Dorothy Farish Pace, “Dot”, 93, of Richmond, passed away on January 5, 2014. She was born in Goochland County on June 2, 1920, and was the seventh of eight children born to the late Charles Wesley and Lilly Tryall Farish. She was preceded in death by all of her siblings; her first husband, John F. Pace; and her second husband, James L. Pickett. Survivors include her four children, John F. Pace, Jr. (Donna), Linda Pace Sprouse (Tom), Judith Pace Wilkinson (David) and Kaye Pace Lindsay (David); two stepchildren, Nancy Pickett Fleming and June Pickett Lynch (Dan); 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and her best friend and sister-in-law, Shirley Farish. Dot worked for Thalhimer’s Department Store for over 25 years and became an assistant buyer of major appliances. She was devoted to her family, a true “matriarch”, was adored by her children and grandchildren and was loved by all. Dot loved music. She loved to dance and was delighted being anywhere music was being played. We raise our glass to you one more time, mom, we love you! A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bon Air United Methodist Church, 1645 Buford Road.
