Beloved Elizabeth Elaine (Briggs) Drummond was born eight weeks prematurely at only 3lbs 5oz, on June 14th, 1975, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. She was strong even in her infancy and surpassed all expectations for her survival.
Beth first attended Midlothian High School, then Meredith College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Beth worked diligently to attain teaching credentials for Montessori education, and applied those credentials admirably and selflessly in the instruction, care, and nurture of others. Most recently, “Miss Beth” was a dedicated and loved primary teacher at The Montessori School of the Mahoning Valley in Youngstown, Ohio.
She was a beautiful person in body and spirit, always demonstrating a deep love for others and an abiding faith in God. Sadly, Beth died in the same way that she was born, prematurely, while sleeping peacefully at her parents’ home in Midlothian, Virginia.
Beth developed many cherished friendships along her journey living in Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Ohio, and she always seemed happiest among family and friends at the beach.
She is survived by her husband Sean Patrick Drummond, and her children Hannah, Benjamin, and Thomas Drummond of Poland, Ohio; her father John Grey Briggs, Jr. and her mother Norma Ellen Briggs of Midlothian, Virginia; her brother Alan Williams Briggs, his wife Rachel Westgate Briggs, and her niece, Camilla Eloise Briggs of Severna Park, Maryland; her brother-in-law, Chris Drummond of Midlothian, Virginia; her aunt Tricia Williams and cousin Chris Blow France of Wilmington, North Carolina; her aunt Kathy Fisher, uncle Greg Fisher, and cousins Jessie Fisher and Doug Fisher of Hampton, Virginia; and her cousin Brian Williams of Richmond, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Beth's honor to The Montessori School of the Mahoning Valley in Youngstown, Ohio.
