She also played the cornet in the Salvation Army brass bands. It was in the Cleveland Salvation Army where she met Edward Weber. After they married, they moved to Los Angeles and had two daughters, Susan and Faith. Helen eventually returned to school and became a licensed practical nurse, a career she truly loved. She moved to the desert community of Hemet after retiring from nursing and picked up new hobbies. She stated that her greatest achievements postretirement were learning to ballroom dance and play poker. Helen also volunteered with many charities and local schools. She loved helping students learn to read and the students loved her too. When her health was starting to decline, Helen moved to Virginia so she could be closer to her family. She was a voracious reader and loved to play games and socialize. She loved seeing her granddaughters and great grandchildren very much. Helen loved the many friends she had at the Atlantic apartments where she lived for many years in Virginia. Helen had a genuine faith in Jesus Christ and is in His presence for eternity.
