

He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Assunta Filippi, his brother Robert Filippi, and his son-in-law Keith Featherstone.
Hank was born at home on July 8, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY into a large loving family of Italian immigrants. He worked his uncle’s food stands at construction sites throughout the city with his uncles and cousins. His family later moved to Long Island.
At 18 he was drafted into the Army and spent two years stationed in Germany. When he returned, he moved to Virginia with Carol, got married and started his family. He started his career with the federal government working as a mail clerk in the Department of Defense. He continued his career with the Department of Defense, earning his way through the GS rankings, ultimately retiring at the highest level, in Senior Executive Service.
Hank was blessed with 62 years of marriage to his beloved wife Mary Carol Filippi. He also leaves behind four children, Christine Pastore (Dominick), Michelle Featherstone (Dennis Anninos), Joseph Filippi (Vivian), and Stephanie Filippi, thirteen grandchildren, Nick Pastore (Kathryn), Vince Pastore (Meredith), Lucia Pastore, Nina Pastore, Zack Filippi (Jessie), Ted Featherstone, Frank Featherstone, Audrey Garcia (Andy), Steven Filippi, Matthew Filippi, Jason Filippi, Carmina Filippi-Knapp (Jeremy), Micaela Satterfield, and one great-grandchild Reid Pastore.
Hank was very proud of his Italian heritage, and he and Carol loved sharing the traditions and culture of Italy with his family. His family and friends will always have memories of his goofy humor and witty speeches and all around fun-loving spirit, his generosity, his wisdom, and his wine at 4pm - Salute!
Hank requested only a small celebration of life with immediate family.
