FERGUSON, James Wilburn, 92, died peacefully August 15, 2014. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Alma C. Ferguson; and son, James Floyd Ferguson. He is survived by his daughter, Sandra F. Kent (Steven); grandsons, Will, Ross and Win Kent; and his dear friend "Texas daughter," Adair Foust.
He was born and raised in Cullen, Va. in Charlotte County. He was a WWII veteran and graduated from The University of Virginia with a B.S. in Commerce in 1946. After college, he returned to Charlotte County and pursued his occupation as a franchise owner and Chevrolet dealer of Ferguson Motor Company for over 30 years. He was also active in many organizations in Charlotte County, including the Planning Commission, the Ruritan Club and longstanding deacon of Cullen Baptist Church. He also had a cattle farm and superb garden from which many memories were made.
After retiring in 2000, he moved to Midlothian, Va. with his wife and became a member of Winfree Memorial Baptist Church. He enjoyed the friendships he developed there as well as his card group in his neighborhood. He always grasped the teachable moments and provided advice that his family treasures. He passionately loved his family and the Lord and his strength will prevail in the many memories he created.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 22 at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., where services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, August 23, 2014.
