Dear Rita & all in the Sullivan Family:
I still remember that day in November 1971 that I first met Jim when interviewing for a Syntex sales position...and of course his flair for the dramatic when he called and offered me the position on Christmas Eve, well 99 & 44/100's% as he said, I still needed to pass the personnel checks! Here we are nearly 43 years later and I proudly state that Jim, the boss, Jim, the teacher, Jim, the personality and all the lessons he taught me were so instrumental in my career--I am a better person for having known Jim & will never forget him Rita--he was a giant among men! All the best to you and the family during this difficult time!

Dear Rita and Family,
I worked with Mr. Sullivan for several years when I was at CMR Institute. He was quite a character and a wealth of information. I thoroughly enjoyed our time spent at tradeshows and hearing all his stories about his career in this industry.  He will be missed!

I spent almost 50 years associating with Jim Sullivan, and it is with many tears that I see him off.

I will always remember his sense of humor and the descriptive statements he attributed to the observed behavior of some of people he dealt with. 

One incident stands out to me -- a Syntex business dinner in Hawaii with wives invited.  A guest speaker was introduced as an FDA insider who was to give us the real story of what goes on at the FDA.  The woman came to the microphone and started speaking.  Less than one minute into her presentation Jimmy started to laugh.  His laughter grew.  Everyone, including the President and Vice President was staring at our table.  The speaker, unperturbed, continued without a hitch.  During the next few minutes Jimmy was not only laughing at the speaker's presentation, he was laughing at all of us who had not yet realized that the speaker was not an FDA insider, but a double-talk artist who was not making any sense whatsoever.   Yes, we all finally caught on.

Jimmy, wherever you are, please, keep on laughing.

It has been a pleasure knowing and working with Jim. I will miss him and all of our conversations. My heart and thoughts go out to Rita and to all of Jim's family.

Dear Aunt Rita and all the kids, When my Dad let me know that Uncle Jim had died I had 2 immediate thoughts: first, a comment from him when I saw him last at my mother's funeral was that when he died, he should be dressed in his boy scout uniform and sent off in a canoe....I never realized what a funny man he was. I so enjoyed our last visit! My second thought was that I needed to call my son, Matthew, and tell him that the man who inspired his kindergarten project on Poochie and the water moccasin had died. It was such a favorite story of mine and his. My thoughts are with you and your family. Now all the Sullivan siblings are together....Kate

Dear Rita & Family:
I have such wonderful memories of Jim and our friendship over the years.Even though our paths wemt in different directions, we always stayed in touch and shared the stories of our youth and our growing families. Every month there is a gathering of Cranston High classmates and Jim is often discussed with good humor and affection.
May God Bless your family as you deal with this period of loss. Take some comfort in the thought that Jim and Saint Peter are swapping stories and watching over you.
