Jodie and John were married for 29 years. They fell in love while they were in college; Jodie at James Madison University and John at the Virginia Military Institute. Throughout those years together, they had two beautiful daughters and many wonderful adventures.
Jodie was a giver in all aspects of her life. She dedicated every day of her life to helping others. Throughout her 27 years as a math teacher, she touched the hearts of many of her coworkers and students. One of her favorite things was watching her students hit milestones in their lives and celebrating alongside them.
Once she retired, Jodie spent her days creating gifts and helping her friends and family. You would often find her crocheting blankets, making new crafts, or laughing alongside those she loved.
Jodie was an avid Disney fan. Her and her family loved going to Disney World to ride all the attractions and explore the parks. She had a closet full of Disney shirts and a year-round Christmas tree full of Disney ornaments to remember their trips there. When her daughters asked her what she loved the most about Disney, her answer was always the smiles it brought to their faces.
She also loved going to the beach. Her version of paradise was one where she could walk along the sand, feeling the ocean breeze as she held hands with her husband. Near the end of her life, she spent many weeks at the beach, living out her dreams.
A celebration of her life will be on August 6, 2024 at 2 p.m. at the Woody Funeral Home on 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, Virginia 23113. Flowers can be sent there for the service.
Her family would like to thank everyone for their kindness during this trying time. Jodie was the sun in many of their worlds and will be greatly missed.
