Joe B. Melton, 88, died on August 2, 2016 after a long illness. He was born on August 10, 1927 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Janette Golden Melton; daughter Linda Hough (Chris), son Lee Latham, daughter-in-law Lisa Latham; grandchildren, Jordan and Kendall Hough, Daniel Latham (Emily), Graham and Brayden Latham; brother Dr. Roy Melton (Earline); nephew Christopher Melton and niece Kelly Forehand. Joe served in the U.S. Navy at the end of World War II. He was a mechanical engineer for Reynolds Aluminum Company (now Alcoa) for 39 years. He was a very active member of Bon Air Baptist Church, which he loved dearly. Visitation will be August 9, 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home, Huguenot Chapel. A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at Bon Air Baptist Church August 10 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to the Missions Endowment Fund at Bon Air Baptist Church, 2531 Buford Rd, Richmond, VA, 23235.
