Smith, Linda Owens, loving wife, mother and sister passed away on February 13, 2021 surrounded by loved ones after a 10-year struggle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold Graves Owens and Mildred Wiltshire Owens, and her brother, Jerry Thomas Owens (Caroline). She is survived by her husband of 38 years, John Randolph Smith; two sons, Scott Randolph Smith (Stephani) of Chester, Virginia, and David Cameron Smith (Melissa Richardson) of Richmond, Virginia; a brother, Danny L. Owens (Danielle) of Southport, North Carolina; along with numerous nieces and nephews and their children. Linda was born on August 5, 1954 in Huntington, West Virginia and was raised in Ashland, Kentucky. She moved with her family to Maryland in 1969. She is a 1972 graduate of Severna Park High School, Severna Park, Maryland and a 1976 graduate of the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia. After graduation she resided in Richmond where she worked as a bonding representative at Tabb, Brockenbrough and Ragland until her decision to become a stay-at-home mother in 1985. She later worked as a college consultant for the firm College Connections. Linda enjoyed most being with her family and cherished their time together over all others. She shared her husband’s passion for the mountains and loved their times together at Wintergreen. She was a member of New Life United Methodist Church in Midlothian, Virginia and was happy to serve on two mission trips before becoming ill. She loved history, theater and movies and could often be found at a local museum, Altria Theater or at Regal Cinemas. The family will receive friends Thursday February 18th from 5-7 P.M. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home 1020 Huguenot Road and where a celebration of her life will be held Friday at 11 A.M. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions could be made to New Life United Methodist Church, 900 Old Hundred Road, Midlothian, VA 23114.
