He is survived by his devoted wife of 73 years, Shirley Bugg Hudson; son, Steven E. Hudson (Jo) and daughter, Lori A. Hudson (Chuck); and one grandson, Nicolas Eugene Hudson (whom he affectionately called Scallywag).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnie and Eugenia Hudson; brothers John P. (Louise), James H. (Blanche) and Donald A. (Nellie) Hudson; sisters Rosie Ethelyn Hudson, Helen H. Phillips (Ernie), Beatrice H. Longest (Bruce) and Charlene H. Reardon (Bill).
Linwood was a proud veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army. After the war, he briefly worked for DuPont before enjoying a long career with IBM, retiring at the age of 55. After retirement, Linwood adored traveling with his family, playing a spirited game of bridge and dedicating his time to numerous non-profit organizations. He was a long-time, devoted member of Providence United Methodist Church, which Linwood served faithfully for as long as his health permitted.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 25 at 2:00 p.m. at Providence United Methodist Church, 901 South Providence Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23236, with a reception to follow in the church social hall. Interment will be held Wednesday, February 26 at 12:00 p.m. at Dale Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Providence United Methodist Church.
