Margaret Ann was born on April 29, 1949, in Washington, D.C. to Dolph Hays and Alice Hays née Ahalt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Thomas "Tommy" Hays and late husband Robert "Bob" North.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Cheatham (husband, Jon); son, David North (wife, Dory); nephew, Spencer Hays; cousins, Nancy Gottwald and Robert Kimble; and former husband, Ed Evans. Margaret Ann was the beloved grandmother to Alexis Cheatham (23), Shelby Cheatham (21), Claire North (8) and Thomas North (2).
Margaret Ann’s family and dearest friendships brought her immense joy and purpose. Her kindness, support, and encouragement will be forever remembered, in particular with her four grandchildren who she adored spending time with later in life. Other proud moments include work at the US Pentagon, MCV Auxiliary, and time spent with her four-legged children whom she cherished (and often rescued).
In accordance with Margaret Ann’s wishes, there will no funeral or memorial service.
