Mateo Finch Cassel

He leaves in profound grief his parents, J. Brian Cassel and Laura Plynn Finch, and his brother Elijah Finch Cassel. Mateo is also survived by his grandmother, Nancy St. Clair Finch; his uncles and aunts, Todd & Shelley Cassel, Eric Cassel, Allen & Rosa Finch, and Thomas Finch; and his cousins, Julia, Santiago, Molly & Maria Finch, and David, Daniel, and Derek Cassel and their families. His many long-term friends, The Bon Air Boys, are also held dear in our hearts during this time. He was predeceased by his loving grandfather Jerald A. Finch and grandparents Joe and Mildred Cassel.

Mateo was a sweet, kind boy who loved his family, his lifelong friends and his dogs, Luna and Daisy. He was an honor student at James River High School, class of 2023.

Services will be Sunday January 8 at 3 pm at Bon Air United Methodist Church, 1645 Buford Road, followed by a reception there.

A brief burial will be at Hollywood Cemetery on Monday at 3:00 pm.
