

Maloney, Michael W., 74 of Midlothian went to be with the Lord on April 26, 2013, following a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Marilyn D. Maloney; three children, Michael W. Maloney Jr., Carolyn O. Maloney, Marshall A. Maloney and wife Melissa A. Maloney, sister Mary Hart Darden and many loving family members.
He is remembered for a long list of accomplishments at Norcross High School, including "Most Intellectual" and "Most Likely to Succeed" and then continued as President of Tau Kappa Epsilon at Auburn University where he earned His Masters in Chemical Engineering. During his 40 plus years as Senior Research Engineer, he was featured in a video as one of "The Pioneers of Dupont" for Tyvek. His family benefited from his many hobbies which included refinishing antique furniture, darkroom photography, woodworking, and constructing elaborate doll houses. Beginning in 1985, his passion was his 300 sq. ft. HO model railroad layout; including train excursions around the country, study of Southern Railroad history and earning the title as master craftsman.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, from 6 to 8p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home where the Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 2 at 2p.m. Visitation will also be available one hour prior to the service.
