Michael was born June 30, 1945 in Sewickley, Pennsylvania to Francis Patrick and Margaret Marie (O’Hara) McCormack. Michael grew up in Leetsdale, PA. He graduated from Quaker Valley High School in 1963. After high school, he honorably served in the United States Air Force for four years. After the service, he worked for US Steel, Bell, P.D.M., Adamson/Old Dominion Fabricators, and finally Virginia Power, where he retired after 20 years in 2000.
Michael married Beverly J. Roycroft in 1974 in Pittsburgh, PA. They were happily married for 44 years. Michael was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church for 40 years. His passions included reading, photography, art exhibits, gardening, and lifelong education.
Michael is survived by his wife Beverly J. (Roycroft) McCormack of Midlothian, Virginia, son, Colonel R. Brian McCormack, USA, of Fredericksburg, VA, daughter, Megan (Robert) Dodge of Royal Palm Beach, FL; his brother, Dennis (Michelle) McCormack of Bonita, CA, his brother Brendan (Catherine) McCormack, of Amelia, VA; his grandchildren Anne Marie McCormack, Joseph Patrick McCormack, Madeleine Elizabeth Dodge and Maxwell Lane Dodge.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Margaret McCormack and his brother Brian McCormack.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Edward’s Catholic Church, Richmond, VA at 11am April 16th 2018. A reception will follow at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint James Catholic Church, Sewickley, PA at 10am April 28, 2018. Burial will follow at Saint James Catholic Cemetery. A reception will follow at Jackson’s restaurant, Double Tree Hotel, Moon Township, PA.
