Mike Ernest Callahan III

CALLAHAN III, Mike E., 84 years of age, of Midlothian, Virginia, originally from Washington, D.C., ascended to Heaven on Wednesday, December 5, 2018. He was the son of Mike E. Callahan II, Leslie Donaldson and step-son of Luttrell Donaldson. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Callahan; daughters, Debra Orokos (Ed) and Patricia Kropac (Richard); grandchildren, Nicole Hingley (Daniel), Kristen Orokos, Michael Orokos; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Everett and Maeve Hingley; and numerous extended family members. Mike joined the Navy at the age of 17. He began his career as a Washington, D.C., police officer and retired as a commercial underwriter. He was a member of Bon Air Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir. He belonged to a dance club with his wife, Shirley. He was a longtime member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 12, 2018, at Woody's Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., Midlothian, Va. 23113 from 6 to 8 p.m. A private burial interment will be in Dale Memorial on December 13, 2018, at 2 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Bon Air Baptist Church, 2531 Buford Rd., Richmond, Va. 23235, on Sunday, December 16, 2018, at 2 p.m. A reception to follow.
