It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Penny Lynn O’Bryan, who left this world on July 4, 2025, at the age of 62. Surrounded by those who loved her most, Penny passed peacefully at Bons Secour St. Francis Medical Center after a long and courageous 30 year battle with chronic kidney disease, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering love.
Born on October 13, 1962, in Ravenswood, WV, Penny was the beloved child of William “Bill” Hall and Janet Hall Fox. From an early age, she brought light and laughter into the lives of everyone around her. Penny spent her life devoted to her career and her family, always putting others before herself. Whether through a warm smile and a listening ear or through her work holding multiple positions in her almost 40 year career. She started her career as a chair side assistant to Dr. Williams at Drs. Jenkins and Williams Dentistry, moving to receptionist for Drs. Williams and Neighbors, and remaining up front to greet many patients with her beautiful smile as the practice transitioned to Drs. Neighbors, Herod and Moretti. Penny made the world a better place with her warm heart, quick wit, and love of friends and family.
To know Penny was to know compassion, incredible resilience, perseverance, and joy. She loved keeping her mind sharp with puzzle games as well as family game nights. She found beauty in the simple moments of life watching her children and grandchildren grow. She cherished her family time as she often traveled between VA and NC to see her children and grandchildren. She loved holidays, birthdays, and any reason to get the whole family under one roof.
Penny is survived by her husband of nearly 40 years, Tom O’Bryan; children, Derek (Carson Jane) O’Bryan and Joey O’Bryan; grandchildren, Cali Rae, and Thomas Derek Jr.; and mother, Janet Hall Fox, who will carry her memory in their hearts forever. She was preceded in death by her father, William “Bill” Hall; and brothers, Alan Hall and William “Billy” Hall.
To honor and celebrate a life so beautifully lived, a funeral mass will be held for Penny on Thursday, July 10th at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church at 11 AM. Prior to mass, there will be a 1 hour visitation with the family from 10 AM to 11 AM. Burial service will be private.
For flower donations please send directly to St Edward the Confessor Catholic Church at: 2700 Dolfield Dr. North Chesterfield, VA 23235.
Though she may no longer walk beside us, Penny’s love will echo in our lives forever.
