Howard, Richard W., 88, of Richmond, VA,(previously of St. Paul and Forest Lake, MN and Sun City West, AZ) took his final flight on August 11, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Howard Sr. and Regina Howard. He is survived by his daughter Cheryl Fisher and son-in-law Dean of Richmond, VA; brother George Howard Jr. of Balsam Lake, WI; numerous nieces and nephews.
Dick was a WWII veteran of the Army Air Corp. He graduated from the University of Minnesota as a Mechanical Engineer. Dick was one of the founding owners of Wyard Industries, Inc. He loved to design any type of machine or project, big or small. Planes, trains and automobiles described Dick’s hobbies. He enjoyed being a private pilot and building model airplanes; he loved his 1958 Ford Skyliner and NASCAR; and added a room onto his house for his model railroad design.
Graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 19, at Elmhurst Cemetery 1510 North Dale Street, St. Paul. A Celebration of Life will follow at Lake Elmo Inn at 12 noon. Memorials can be made to the Humane Society of the United States or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
