BRADBROOKE, Roylance Dane, 85, of Richmond, died June 5, 2013. Survivors include his son, Tim and partner, Wendy Haberstroh, his daughter, Alison Visokay and her husband, Stephen; and three grandchildren, Adam, Lauren and Bethany, and a sister, Jillian Gourley and her family of Cheadle Hulme, England. His beloved wife Susan passed away in January of 2012.
Roy was a loving husband and father, who immigrated to the US with his young family in 1968. After living for 5 years outside Cleveland, Ohio, the family moved to Schooley's Mountain, New Jersey. Roy retired in 1985 and Roy and Susan fulfilled a dream by buying a 28 foot sailboat and sailing the intercoastal waterways for 2 years before retiring in Richmond, Virginia.
In 1994, Roy was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and so began his long association with prostate cancer information and support groups. Roy founded chapters of Us TOO in Richmond and also throughout England and Scotland. He sat on numerous boards of prostate cancer groups, and helped countless numbers of men with information and support.
Roy's children and grandchildren are very proud of him and will miss him greatly. He is now at peace and with his beloved wife Susan.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Monday June 17 at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd. In lieu of flowers, send contributions in Roy's memory to Us TOO International Prostate Cancer Education and Support Network, 5003 Fairview Avenue, Downers Grove, IL 60515 (USA).
