

Born on May 8, 1955, to John and Virginia Pleasants, Sheila dedicated her life to family, education, and community service.
Sheila is survived by her husband, Bruce, of nearly 48 years; her sons, Joshua and Michael (Tom); her sister, June Musick (Tony); her niece, Shannon Clark (Steve); her nephew, Jim Musick; and four great-nephews.
She earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Guidance and Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University. For 35 years, Sheila served Chesterfield County schools as a middle school teacher, guidance counselor, and coordinator– guiding and supporting countless students with compassion.
Beyond the classroom, Sheila was an active member of Huguenot Road Baptist Church for 40 years, where she devoted herself to children and youth programs. With her passion for mentoring, event planning, and building a nurturing community, she touched the lives of countless young people. She also loved playing bridge, forming lasting friendships around the card table.
Visitation will be held at Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd, Midlothian, VA 23113, on Wednesday, February 26, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A private burial will take place the following day. A celebration of Sheila’s life will be held at Huguenot Road Baptist Church, 10525 W. Huguenot Road, on March 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
