Stanley William York

York, Stanley William, 83, of North Chesterfield passed away Saturday, December 27, 2025, with his family by his side. He was born on July 21, 1942, in Ogdensburg, New York to Harold and Betty York, who preceded him in death, as did his only sister, Shirley Reed.

Stan grew up on his family’s dairy farm, where he spent many hours as a young lad working on the farm and delivering milk. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and remained close friends with many of his classmates for more than 50 years. He began a 34-year career with C & P (later Bell Atlantic) that eventually brought him to Chesterfield County. Stan loved classic cars, animals, being outside, and being near the water; most of all, he enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of more than 31 years, Marie York; his two sons, Chris York (Cathy) and Mark York (Terri); and four stepchildren, Mike Robinson, Elizabeth Orcutt (Darren), Barbie Morgan, and Chris Martin (Aimee). Additionally, he is survived by his grandchildren, Tracy Catlett (Tommy), Jonathon York (Maricel), Jaramie York (Angela), and McKenzie Anderson (Tim) as well as 11 step-grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home on Huguenot Road. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
