Sylvia Dorene Ward was born to the proud parents of Bruce and Eloise Ward (both deceased), on Tuesday May 28, 1957 at Women's Hospital in New York City.
A Tuesday’s child is full of grace. Sylvia was an individual who was set on doing what she had to do; sometimes bold and brazen, other times soft and docile; she was fierce. She attended Public School 183, then Robert WagnerJunior High School where she displayed her talents as a saxophonist in her school band. Sylvia continued her education at Julia Richman High School and Hunter College. She began her career as phlebotomist at the prestigious Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.
Sylvia was wed to Mr. Paul Taylor on July 26, 1986. On October 28, 1988 she gave birth to her only child LaTisha Irene Taylor. After her tenure as a phlebotomist, in 2000 Sylvia migrated to Richmond, Virginia where she worked as an EKG Technician, Safety Officer in the Virginia school system and a Senior Correctional Officer with the Department of Juvenile Justice. In life and death, despite her health challenges Sylvia showed us how to be strong in the lord.
Sylvia is survived by her daughter Latisha Taylor, her siblings Mrs. Linda Hall, Dr. Maria E. Ward, James Ward and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
May Sylvia rest in eternal peace and rise in glory!
