I am so sad to hear of Thomas passing.  We lost touch over the years, but I was his hairdresser for a long time and frequently visited in his beautiful home and garden. 

He was one of the kindest,  most compassionate and caring man I ever met. 

He even blessed my cats.

I loved him.

Fr. Tom was at our parish in the 1980’s. Upon arrival he became a good friend to many at Our Lady of Lourdes in Vancouver, Washington. His homilies, natural way of celebrating mass, and care and attention to the church environment was very appreciated. He guided us to knowledge and concern for both greater world issues as well as stewardship for the environment. Sadly, my own husband’s illness and passing took place at the same time as his so had no awareness until just now that all of this had transpired. God bless his sister and brother-in-law as his loss must still be felt acutely.

I often said that Fr. Tom had a profound effect on my life during the 1980s.  When Tom preached you listened, no matter what the topic might be, there was always something in his homily that would get you.  He showed me of God’s love for everyone.  If we would only listen to God’s call our world problems would quickly be gone.

Tom was an art and environment person always make the church fit the theme of the day.  His.musical abilities. help us to be full and active participants of our litutgy. 

I was not able to attend his service yesterday because of illness, but my thoughts and prayers were there for him. ,May the song of the angels welcome him to the full glory of God! Harry Weldon,


Tom at Bailey Boushay your gentle heart guided us as we wore daily grief of our clients deaths.
We learned from you, You were never far from our sadness that consumed us in the early 90's with too many deaths.
We entered the AIDS display at the Seattle Garden Show,  our gesture of awareness to the public.
I remember going to your father's memorial, the staff came for you as you came to us so often.
You are in my heart, that tiny pocket that holds your memory with every beat.
I expect your spirit to be near to your family, I will listen for you

Rest in Peace, Father Tom.  God received a devoted loving servant into his perpetual care.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I worked with Thomas at Seattle Children's in the Grounds department and knew him when he worked here as a pastor. He was a deeply loving and caring person, who devoted his life to reaching out and helping others. I know he touched a lot of lives in his time here and in all his relationships. He will be missed. 

I met Thomas in Rome, in the mid 2000s when I was a college student working at the University of Washington Rome Center, and he was there teaching in the Landscape Architecture program. I was not his student, and yet I learned so much from him. We enjoyed walks and small Roman adventures together- traded tips about our favorite city and shared many meals in tiny bars and restaurants around the city. I have so many fond memories of Thomas- his storytelling and wit, his kindness and empathy for others. He always had a smile, a story and a laugh to share. Thomas was a very special person, to spend time with him was always a joy, always a little surprising and I will always remember the friendship we shared. 

Mary Catherine,  I am so sorry to hear about Thomas.  He and I pinky promised that when we both get to Heaven, we will show each other our mansions.  I am still practicing my Hail Marys and Our Fathers. I miss you.  Please call me when you can.

Just now read the notice of your brother Tom's passing in the St James Cathedral bulletin. I am so saddened and shocked to hear of this. May his soul rest in peace and be taken by angels into paradise.

I remember so fondly our friendship at Holy Names and being invited into your parent's home, and even a trip with your family to Camano Island. Beautiful memories!

I will keep you and Tom and all who were close to him in my prayers and will try to be present at his memorial on November 11 at St James Cathedral.

My condolences to the sister and brother-in-law and other beloved family and friends of Thomas. I was honored to bring him the Eucharist on Sunday when he was a  recent resident at an assisted-living center. When I visited and prayed with him and recited the Scriptures for the Sunday Mass, I could see on his face an expression of listening intently to the Word of God. May Thomas who served the Lord faithfully on earth, be rejoicing in heaven in the arms of his Savior Jesus and enjoying the fruit of his earthly labor. May God's peace and love comfort his family, and friends at this time.

He was my friend of decades. The world became his parish, its citizens, especially those who suffered, his parishioners. He ministered with compassion and joy. I love you and miss you, Thomas!

Thomas was a seminary classmate of mine--a creative, kind spirit whose death leaves a gap in the world. May he rest gently in the Light.
