Thomas was born in Seattle and was the son of Darrell and Irene Allsopp. After receiving a degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Washington, Thomas responded to a calling to the Catholic priesthood. He studied in Rome for three years where he developed a life-long affection for Italy and its people.
After his ordination on August 18, 1979, Thomas served in various capacities at parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Seattle. Later he provided pastoral care for those living with AIDS at Bailey-Boushay House, and for children and their families at Children's Hospital, both in Seattle.
He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched with his special brand of caring. He listened, he served, he consoled, he befriended, and he spread joy because he found it everywhere.
Thomas' life will be celebrated on November 11, 2024 at 10:30 am at Saint James Cathedral in Seattle.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seattle Children's Hospital Bloom Guild, or Doctors Without Borders.
