

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmothers, Virginia E. Powers and Ida Mae Flounders; grandfathers, Dr. Jacob J. Hladys and Thomas E. Flounders Jr.; and his uncle, John Carter Flanders.
Andy is survived by his parents, Thomas E. Flounders III and Ann Hladys Flounders; his cherished siblings, Jef Flounders, Terri Jambois, and Juli Reddington; and his adored nieces and nephews: Haley Flounders, Mason Flounders, Greyson Reddington, Brock Jambois, Karsyn Reddington, Cooper Jambois, Luke Flounders, and Jace Jambois. He is also remembered with love by his aunts, Jane H. Pace and Jane Anthea Donovan (and her husband).
Born in Richmond, VA, Andy was the eldest of four children. He brought joy and laughter to those around him with his sharp wit, kind heart, and grounded spirit. Intelligent, hardworking, and immensely generous, Andy was well known in the Richmond area as an avid collector of comic books and figurines—a passion he embraced throughout his life.
Andy lived in various parts of Virginia, including Williamsburg, Virginia Beach, and Midlothian, where he graduated from Midlothian High School in 1987. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC.
As a child, Andy was active in swimming and a proud member of the Boy Scouts of America, where he earned the distinguished honor of the Order of the Arrow. He had a lifelong love for camping, superheroes, comic books, and animals. Above all, Andy cherished time spent with his nieces and nephews, always offering his enthusiastic support for their interests and activities.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 10, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., Midlothian, VA 23113. Please come donned in your favorite Superhero shirt.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Richmond SPCA or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, two causes dear to Andy’s heart.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the many doctors, nurses, and friends—especially those at Row House—who provided unwavering care and support throughout Andy’s journey.
