Thomas Franklin "Tom" Stewart Sr.

Thomas Franklin “Tom” Stewart, Sr., 82, of Midlothian died June 7, 2015. He is survived by his wife and best friend for 37 years, Sally Stewart; his three children: Susan Perkins and her husband Gil; Sally Ann Baumbach and her husband Major Joe Baumbach US Army; and SSgt. Thomas F. Stewart, Jr. USMC; five grandchildren: Lauren and Krissy Etz; James, Madeline, and Andrew Baumbach; two brothers: Sonny Farmer and wife Janet and family, Elizabeth City, NC; Larry Farmer and family, Edenton, NC; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Frank and Susie King, Colonial Heights.

Tom was a proud Korean era Marine veteran. He graduated from Hampden-Sydney College , Class of '55 and retired after a 50 year career with VDOT/VDRPT. His proudest achievement was his family. Tom was a wonderful husband and friend to his wife, great father to his children and an awesome “PAPA” to his grandchildren. His love for his family showed in his community involvement with the Boy Scouts, Sea Scouts, youth sports teams, school activities, or anything in which his children and grandchildren were involved.

A “ Celebration of Life” will be held Saturday, August 15, at 2 pm at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road and where the family will receive friends 1 hour prior. Casual dress. Please no black. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VCU Massey Cancer Center or Wounded Warriors Project.
