 Obituario de Victoria Brown
Victoria "Maud" Brown, nee Gordon, born in the union of Urcella Cunningham and Nathaniel Gordon, was a motherly aunt to many and all who met her. After her conversion to Christ at a young age she never looked back. Aunt Maud, Vickie or Browne as she was affectionately known, was a certified healthcare provider by avocation and a biblical keeper of the flock by divine inspiration. She readily greeted people with a genuine smile and a heartfelt hug. Observers of her would tell you that Victoria Brown carried herself with a saintly countenance. She was well loved and would often cook, serve and host others, in her home on numerous occasions. Victoria was born and raised in the Paris of St. Thomas on the Island Nation of Jamaica. She was courteous, respectful and prudent. She ascribed those qualities as the fringe benefits of anyone who has the love of God in their heart. Victoria contracted typhoid fever as a child and became completely reliant on her younger sister Loretta. Victoria was so sick that she remembers seeing the coffin her father, a carpenter, built to bury her in. Victoria was nursed back to health by Loretta helping her to relearn how to walk and talk. Their longstanding bond of sisterhood has demonstrated genuine love of family, patience and respect for each other's walk in life. Their family bond has survived: husbands; interlopers; and naysayers. As a young adult Victoria's gregarious personality left a favorable impression on her coworkers at Kingston Metal Box. One of her coworkers immigrated to the United States and sponsored Victoria. In turn, Victoria sponsored Loretta who eventually sponsored other siblings, her own children and shortly there after their mother Urcella Gordon. This is the season for mourning. For any passing, whether expected or unexpected, is a loss, and as humans we tend to grieve. However, remember to be inspired by Victoria's adherence to her faith and family. Please be inspired by the way she lived her life and find it instructive on how we should treat each other. Therefore, no matter how many times we may fail, be persistent in emulating the walk of Victoria Brown.
