William Hardeman George Jr., passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2012 after courageously battling cancer for four years. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Helen Simbro George and is survived by 3 daughters Beth McNamee (Patrick), Susan Oliver and Katie Simmons (Trent), 6 grandchildren, his sister Ann Williamson (George) and several nieces and nephews. He was born in Greensboro, GA and graduated from Furman University in Greenville, SC with a BA in Economics where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He served in the army as a First Lieutenant with a tour in Germany. He retired from Hardwick Stove Co. where he was a District Sales Manager. He was a loving husband and father and always put his family first. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Tuesday, March 27 at Woody’s, 1020 Huguenot Rd. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 28 at 11 am at Bon Air United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Richmond Animal League or the American Cancer Society.
