Joan, Jim & Kim,

I was so sorry to hear about your mother's death.  It was so good to see her and Jim at my Dad's viewing in September.  It just doesn't seem possible - we're not supposed to lose our parents!  We were all so close growing up and I still consider you my family.  I send you comfort in knowing that your Mom and Dad are together again.  Maybe they're all boating and fishing with my Dad!

Sending you comfort in your loss.  I will always remember your mom fondly.  She was really amazing.  Memories include her "helping me" sew a formal gown or two for high school dances. Dear Joan, Kim, and Jim,  It was with shock and a deep sense of loss that I read that not only Athelene but also Elliot were gone.  Your parents were so intertwined in my life from early childhood play in your garage-home to hosting my bridal shower, to storing our motor home for a time, to showing up with emotional support during the times of my parents' deaths....and so many other memories.  Robert and Karla will come to the viewing tonight to represent our family.  I am sorry that I cannot make it to Salt Lake to provide personal support, but our thoughts and love are with you during this difficult time

Dear Family,

Barbara and I reflect on how generous your parents are. We would choose our usual bench, and your Mom and Dad would sit behind us. Athelene loved to give Erica and Allison candy during sacarament meeting. The girls would look forward to see if Grandma Athelene would come to church that sunday. Yes, these are small things, but make big impressions in our lives. Thank you so much.

Athelene was always warm and welcoming.  I will cherish my memories of spending Christmas with Joan and her family at Athelene's home.
