Boyd was born in Walnut Park, California, on March 19, 1933, the second son of Raymond Edgel and Grace Sorensen Blackham. Boyd was raised in the Walnut Park/Los Angeles area, amidst a loving family and loyal friends. After completing high school, he attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business. He then served a mission to South Africa for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He also served in the United States Army for two years. Boyd began his business career with Sears Roebuck, where he worked in both California and Utah, spanning a period of 15 years. He then became an award-winning residential real estate agent in the Salt Lake City area. He also fulfilled many assignments and service opportunities with his church throughout his life.
Upon retirement, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his two residences in Salt Lake City (Sandy), Utah and San Diego, California. Family and friends were always at the center of his life.
Boyd is survived by his wife Jacqueline, son Boyd Edgel, daughter Jeanine, brother Brian, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00pm on Saturday, September 26 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary chapel, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah.
