

Calvin Nelson leader, businessman, father, grandfather passed away suddenly on August 26th 2016. He is well loved and respected by those around him. His friendly, outgoing and uplifting personality will be missed.
Calvin was the 6th child of John Albert Nelson and Rebecca Morrison Nelson. He grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from East High School in 1944. He enlisted in the United States Army and served in the signal core. He returned to Salt Lake City and graduated from Utah State in 1950 in Dairy Manufacturing. He began working for his dad at the Nelson Ricks Creamery where he worked in every position. He became Vice President of the company and in 1962, after the death of his father, he managed the company for years as President.
He was a member of the Salt Lake Country Club and enjoyed golfing and socializing with friends.
He shared his love of art with his wife Joan.
He was preceded in death by his wife Joan and his parents.
Calvin is survived by his children: Dan Bunker, Todd Nelson and Rebecca (Phill) Drinkaus, grandchildren: Perry, Dylan, and Annie Nelson; Mason and Maren Drinkaus.
Graveside service Friday September 2nd at 2:30 pm. at Holladay Memorial Park, 4900 S Memory Ln Holladay. An informal celebration of Cal's life will take place at his home that evening.
