1919 - 2012
Camilla Nielsen David died September 1, 2012, in Valencia, California, just two days shy of her 93rd birthday. She was born Sept. 3, 1919, in Salt Lake City, Utah. From the age of 10 she was adopted and raised by Oluf and Anna Nielsen, after the sudden death of her mother Bodil Nielsen Gallagher. She married Jack Pace David in 1941, and they built a wonderful life together for 51 years. Camie lovingly cared for Jack during his battle with cancer. She worked hard to keep him in good spirits, as she did with everyone.
After raising her children, Dennis and Kristina, she went on to have a successful career in the fashion industry. Camie began working at the Loretta Young Charm School, and quickly progressed to directing the Sears Charm School in Salt Lake City. With her inspirational words, she encouraged many young ladies to blossom and reach their potential. Camie became well-known for her work at Sears, which included the implementation of live mannequins modeling in the Sear’s stores, and the hosting of fashion shows for children of all ages. Camie, who worked actively with the Assistance League, was praised for her performances as a clown in elementary schools, and she worked tirelessly to collect clothing from local merchants for the thrift shop. Camie also loved to socialize and was up-to-the-minute with her fashion sense. She never left the house without being impeccably dressed.
She leaves behind her two children and five grandchildren, Dennis David (Kathy), their sons Justin and Michael, and Kristina McGuire (Paul) and their children Paul, Michael and Jennifer. She was dearly loved and will be missed.
Visitors may call from 11:00 to 12:00, Tuesday September 11, at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Drive, SLC. Graveside services will follow at Wasatch Lawn.
