Caren Gloria Finley (Cook) born August 10, 1950, returned to our family in heaven on August 24, 2017, after a long and difficult fight with cancer. Caren is the daughter of Hyrum and Gloria Cook (McDonald), she was born and raised in the Salt Lake Valley where she lived a life full of family and friends. At the age of 5 her mother passed away while giving birth to her sister, Victoria, who also passed away. Being the only girl for many years, the mothering instinct came natural to her. She had her first daughter at the age of 20 and from that day forward she was surrounded by children. She was the person everyone could talk to because they knew she would never pass judgment and would always try to help. She had the patience of an angel and believed that love was the cure for most things. While she had four children of her own, she was the mom and grandma of the neighborhood, no matter where she lived.
She had a passion for the medical industry and went into nursing, but quickly discovered she couldn’t handle it emotionally. She spent most of her years as a home maker, raising her children and grandchildren. She loved cooking for her family and enjoying a good book, when the kids were finally asleep. Caren was married to Bob for over 25 years before she was widowed in 2005. When they got married Bob raised Cinda and Michael as his own, and together they had two girls, Jennifer and Malinda, who they dedicated their life to. They also raised Ciara and Cecilia, their grand-daughters, as their own until their very last days. As a member of the LDS faith Caren was ready to be reunited with her soulmate and family in heaven and be free from the suffering she had to endure.
Preceded in death by: husband Bob, children Cinda and Michael, parents Hyrum and Gloria Cook, niece Crystal, many grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Survived by children: Jennifer (Joe), Malinda. Grandchildren: Ciara, Cecilia, Jaiden, Jenika, Aryaunna, Payshence. Great-grandchildren: Cayden, Gracie, Creed, Hailee, Natalee. Siblings: Ronnie (Valerie), Frank, Keith, Kenneth and Heidi. Along with many more family and friends.

A Celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 6-9pm at her home in West Valley City, where family and friends can join us to celebrate the life she lived.
