Carol Jean (CJ) was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, 1941. She was the third daughter of Hyrum Henry & Mary Elva Lambert Pohlman. She married Wallace Stephen Harkness on March 3rd, 1961, in the LDS Salt Lake Temple after spending a couple years at the University of Utah pursuing her interest in music and elementary education. They had eight children.
CJ had a deep love for her family and pioneer heritage. She was most grateful for her forebearers who migrated to America for the LDS Church. Like them, CJ had a strong testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and demonstrated that love and passion by serving willingly in various callings in the Primary and Relief Society, utilizing her musical talents and leadership skills over many decades.
Her love of family and friends was also demonstrated by the numerous quilts and baby blankets she tied & gifted over the years. After raising her eight children she ventured into the legal world of attorneys and was an integral part of their law firms for over 26 years.
Her favorite all-time treat was the hand-dipped chocolates of Condie’s Candies in SLC. She enjoyed these chocolates from her childhood through adulthood.
Carol Jean's husband and oldest daughter preceded her in death.
She is survived by:
Her siblings – Dorothy Pohlman Marsh, Steven Pohlman & James Pohlman
Her seven children - Wallace, David, Heidi, Heather, Daniel, Samuel & Rebekah
Twenty-eight grandchildren
Thirty great-grandchildren
A family memorial will be held in Lehi, Utah later this year.
