Carol Hefenieder Walter

After graduating from Billings Senior High School in 1955, Carol married Robert “Bob” Walter in 1958, eloping to Red Lodge, MT and honeymooning in Yellowstone Park.

Carol enjoyed a work life reflective of the times that included hosting the live children’s television show Romper Room on KGHL-TV as “Miss Carol.” She later earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Eastern Montana College, and subsequently had a career as an elementary education teacher with the Billings Public Schools.

After retirement, she and Bob moved to Henderson, NV to enjoy warmer temperatures. During their marriage they enjoyed traveling to the West Coast, the Eastern Seaboard, Hawaii, Florida, Europe and the Middle East.

Carol is survived by her daughter Karen “Kari” Walter and son Robert “Rob” Walter, daughter-in-law Heidi Walter, granddaughters Emilia and Sophia Walter, and sisters Vivian Fox (Wallace), Ethel Dickman, Christine Padilla, and brothers George Hefenieder and Jim Hefenieder (Carol). She also is survived by loving nieces and nephew.

Joint services with her husband, who preceded her in death by three days, will be held at Mountview Cemetery in Billings, MT on October 25, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
