

Carrol Sondrup, Our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully February 15, 2015 of natural causes. Carrol was born on Christmas Day, 1928 to Andrus Jay and Evelyn Davis Nelson in Moroni, Utah. Growing up her nickname was Corky. Her family later moved to Garfield, UT but then returned to Moroni while she was in High School. Following graduation from Moroni High School, she attended Utah State University where she met the love of her life, Roger.Carrol married her sweetheart Roger James Sondrup on December 17, 1947, in the Manti temple. They were married for 66 years.Carrol was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many church callings including, Relief Society president, Sunday School teacher, Den Leader, and sang beautifully in many ward choirs. She was a frequent volunteer for the PTA and LDS Social Services. She had a strong testimony of our Savior and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Her great loves in life were her husband, her family and her faith. Her passion was teaching children to swim. She taught for nearly 40 years and thousands of children learned to swim at "Carrol's Swim School." As a Life Guard, she also saved several lives. Carrol was a genuinely sweet, gentle and graceful lady who rarely said an unkind word. She always saw the best in others and never sought fame or attention for herself. Carrol is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roger James Sondrup, son Bradford James Sondrup, sister Frances (Frankie) Nelson Goodsell and her brother Andrus Dee Nelson. Carrol is survived by her daughter Sheridan England (Les), daughter-in-law Kim Sondrup Walkowski (Brad), sons Roger Wayde Sondrup (Karolyn) and Andrus Jeffrey Sondrup (Kami), daughter Jennifer Yates (Brad) and her brother Allen Bryant Nelson. Carrol has 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She affectionately called her grandkids her "Little Darlin's."The family would like to thank Brookdale at Cliff View Assisted Living Center and Journey of Hope Hospice for their care and service and express appreciation to special friends Bill and Nancy Wagner for their love and friendship over the years.Funeral Services will be held at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral that same day from 9:30-10:45 a.m.Interment and Grave Dedication will be at the Elysian Burial Gardens Cemetery, 1075 East 4580 South Salt Lake City, following the funeral service at 1:00 pm. -under the direction of Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, Salt Lake City, UT.
