Dan was a gentle, loving, kind and compassionate man. Dan graduated from the University of Utah in 1995 with a degree in Psychology, and dedicated his career to serving the troubled and homeless, working for non-profit organizations. He also worked as a substitute teacher for area elementary schools where he became known as “Respect Man”. Dan was generous, and enjoyed giving to charities, particularly those helping children.
Dan’s favorite time of year was Christmas. He enjoyed the spirit of Christmas, and giving and sharing with his family and friends. Even during the summer, Dan’s house was always decorated with Christmas keepsakes. Dan enjoyed being in the mountains connecting with nature. He loved listening to music, particularly listening to his son Zach sing and play the piano, and loved making his secret recipe chocolate chip cookies.
Dan is survived by his wife Melissa Williams, his son Zachary Daniel Horton (Jessica Poplar), brothers Steve (Patty), Derek (Angela), and Paul (Quinn Lemley), his sister Julie, nieces and nephews and extended family that loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dexter and Katherine, and brothers Justin and David.
