Our loving husband, father, grandpa (Papa), brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully but unexpectedly on March 8, 2022. He was born October 30, 1956 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Emery Gilbert Nelson and Velma Mae Lunt. He was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. He served a mission for his church to Melbourne, Australia. He married Kristi Karin Nyhus on August 25, 1983 in the Jordan River Temple and together they had 3 sons, Scott, Marc, and Joseph (Joey). He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
David is survived by his wife Kristi Nelson, his three sons Scott (Tami) Nelson, Marc (Shelbe) Nelson, and Joey (Jackie) Nelson. David was blessed with 10 grandchildren that were the light of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents and three siblings.
Funeral services will be held March 12, 2022. There will be a celebration of life at 1:00 PM and funeral service at 2:00 PM at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary on 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah.
