Born on February 2, 1952, in Mount Pleasant, Utah, she was the beloved daughter of Robert Soren Nielson and Esther Lorraine Johanson. Debra's life was enriched by her close relationships with her family, including her brother, Randall Bob Nielson, and her cherished grandparents: Andrew R. Nielsen, Violet Christine Anderson, Edvin Johanson, and Melinda Stephens.
Debra was a proud graduate of Granite High School and later attended Salt Lake Community College. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served a mission in Hartford, Connecticut, where she had profound spiritual experiences that she cherished throughout her life. Her mission was later extended to San Diego, California, and she often reminisced about the joy it brought her.
Known for her artistic spirit, Debra found immense joy in creating jewelry and Diamond Art, but her true delight lay in sharing her creations with others. A lover of film, she adored watching movies, particularly those from the silent era through the 1950s. Her passion for animals was undeniable, with a special fondness for horses and her little dog, Mr. Spock.
Debra was preceded in death by her father, mother, and sister, Susan. She is remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the warmth she brought to everyone around her.
A Graveside service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, where interment will follow.
Debra's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
