Earlene “Beanie” Parry, 87, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2015 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born May 20, 1927 in Garfield, Utah to Myrtle L. Crane Jacobson and stepfathers William “Bill” Riley and Ernest A. Jacobson. She graduated from South High School and later married Leo T. Parry in Greensville, Mississippi on October 8, 1944. Earlene’s greatest enjoyment was her family and collecting family pictures, handcrafter family treasures and dolls. Every child in her life was treated as her own—always remembering birthdays and special events. She loved her home and gardens, wanting to share her life and treasures with all. She beautified others’ lives and looks with her work as a beautician and her caring personality. She traveled abroad and many places throughout America. She loved the beach in San Diego, the mountains in Utah and the waterfalls in Hawaii. She stood at the top of the Eiffel Tower and taxied in London. Her fishing trips with family and friends, playing horseshoes and trips to Wendover and Las Vegas highlighted her life. She was affectionately known as the “Popcorn Lady,” managing NuCrisp Popcorn in Sugar House for many years. To know her was to love her.
She is survived by her husband, Leo T. Parry; siblings, Norma J. Hodges and Marva J. (Harold) Jensen. Preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Alva, Clair, James Edward and Keith Kidd; sister, Joy Higham.
Funeral service will be Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 11am at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary (3401 S. Highland Dr.). There will be a visitation Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 6-8pm and one hour prior to services Thursday. Interment to follow at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
