Eileen was born on April 9th 1943 to Norman and Laura Beesley in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a child she attended a two week clinic at the school for the blind in Ogden, Utah, where she met her future husband, Eugene McRae Wood. Eileen went to West High School and graduated in 1961. After high school she reconnected with her husband, and they eventually married on May 25th 1967 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Despite their physical challenges of blindness, Eileen and Eugene raised two devoted and selfless sons, Brian and Brent.
Eileen was a beloved wife, sister, mother, and grandmother. As a child Eileen liked to tap dance, Baton and sing. She loved to share the memories of the trips she went on with her family to Yellowstone National Park, Disneyland, Bear Lake, Bryce and Zion’s National Park. She enjoyed knitting and talking on the phone with friends and family. She loved to spend time with her kids and grandkids.
Eileen is preceded in death by her father Norman Beesley; Mother; Laura Beesley; Sister; Norma Beesley; and great-granddaughter, Rhylinn Wood. Eileen is survived by her husband Eugene Wood; Son, Brian (Amanda); Son, Brent (Tania), six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
All services will be held on Wednesday, February 3rd at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary 3401 S. Highland Drive SLC, UT 84106. The viewing will be held at 10:00 A.M. Funeral services at 11:00 A.M., and the interment will follow directly after. For those who are not able to attend, the service will be livestreamed.
