

Emery was born March 11, 1921 in Coltman, Idaho to Arthur Louis Nelson and Magdalena Stucki.
He married Mae Lunt in the Salt Lake Temple and they shared 57 years of marriage together.
During the Second World War, he served in the Army at Fort Douglas which was the headquarters for the entire area of the Ninth Service Command. He graduated from the University of Utah in June 1947 as an accountant and went to work for General Electric Supply. He and his brothers Willard and Oren Nelson started Nelson Brothers Construction Company building homes and with their new partner Wayne Redd they grew and began building waste treatment plants and many other construction projects throughout the Utah area until he retired in 2011 at the age of 89. During this time, he also helped found For-Shor, a construction supply company.
An avid reader, he enjoyed going to the theatre, boating, jeeping, traveling, and spending time with his family.
Emery was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served faithfully, never missing a month as home teacher, and served as ward clerk for several bishops in the Garden Park Ward.
Emery is survived by his daughter Linda (Nelson) Smith, (Michael Smith); son David Nelson, (Kristi (Nyhus Nelson), grandchildren; Jeremy, Stephen, Daniel, Matthew Smith; Scott, Marc, Joey Nelson; and Nicholas, Nathan Nelson, Katie Christensen Bradshaw, Braydon Christensen and 25 great-grandchildren and brother Dalmas Nelson.
Emery was preceded in death by his wife Mae, 3 children Boyd, Deborah and Ray Nelson, his parents Aurthur and Magdalena; and siblings Willard, Oren, Delora, Dorothy, Arlen, and Denny Nelson.
Funeral services will be for the immediate family by invitation only and will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S. Highland Dr., Millcreek, UT.
