Frank Adrian Thacker, 91, of Littleton Colorado passed away peacefully on January 2, 2015 from natural causes. Born August 2, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Frank Asa and Beatrice Thacker, eldest son of three boys with Milton Bosh and James Whitney. He was married to Marilyn Healey from 1950 to 1983 and had 7 children. Frank served as a pilot in the US Army during WWII and the Korean War and then served thirty years in the Army Reserves where he held the rank of Colonel. He received a master’s degree from the University of Utah in civil engineering with a desire to work outside building things until he spent a cold Utah winter surveying what would become US Hwy 6. He then went to work indoors on some of the very first computers. He was employed with the US Department of the Interior where he was instrumental in computerizing that branch of the government and used this technology to predict the failure of the Teton dam saving many lives. Frank loved to ski, serve in the Denver LDS temple, and to continually work around his home. He is survived by four children: Todd (Trudy) Thacker, Erin (Michael) Walker, Patricia (Greg) de Gala, and Adam Thacker, twelve grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and his wife Louise Thacker. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers and his three oldest children Joseph Thacker, James Thacker, and Melinda Judd.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 9, 2015, 2:00pm at Wasatch Lawns, 3401 South Highland Drive. A viewing will be held from 1:00 to 1:45 immediately prior to the service. We wish to thank those who cared for our father in his declining years. We have seen acts of love that will forever stay in our hearts. As our father, Frank often said, “Thank you so much for your kindness. I will see you soon,” in heaven.
