

Fred was born on August 16, 1940 in Hamburg, NY to Frederick and Doris Bodenstedt. He was a baptized, confirmed Catholic and his faith in the church never wavered.
He graduated in 1958 from Hamburg High School in NY. While attending school he was on the wrestling and hockey teams. Where he took great pride representing his school.
At 19 Fred joined the United States Air Force working with ammunition. He served in the Vietnam War and was stationed in several overseas locations including Thailand, Okinawa and Germany. He retired from the USAF in 1981.
In 1972 he married Judy Bailey and had 3 kids. They later divorced.
On December 5, 1985 he married the love of his life Anita Jean Moore. She was his whole world.
After the Air Force, Fred worked for the US Postal Service and retired after 20+ years.
Fred loved life, partying, and every bit of joy he could get from it. Throughout his life he took pride in being active by going on Volksmarches while living in Germany, exploring caves, running, swimming, camping and fishing. He was the first to join his kids in the pool or shooting some hoops at the school yard. He has a huge love of animals having several throughout his life. The latest being the birds in his backyard. He took a loving to a Black cat named "boots" that he found. Anyone who knew him got a big laugh from all the crazy shirts and hats he wore.
He is preceded in death by his parents Frederick and Doris Bodenstedt.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jean, brother Jim (Thea) Bodenstedt, children Tami (Earl) Snyder, Hans Bodenstedt, Marie (Wayne) Gibbs, Tamera (Ray) Kolkman, Debra (Darren) Pollick, Michelle Grant, 8 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.
The family would like to thank all the medical staff at KPC Promise Hospital, Rocky Mountain Care-Hunter Hollow, Intermountain Medical Center, and Jordan Valley Hospital for their compassion and care of Fred.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to St. Jude, a charity Fred held close to his heart. Graveside services will be held for immediate family due to social distancing requirements. A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held in December 2020.
Services to be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and mortuary Wednesday April 22, 2020 at 2pm. Live streaming will be available on the Mortuaries Facebook site. It will be available during the ceremony and also for later viewing.
