

Oroville, California to Frances and Sherwood Lawrence. He grew up on several acres in
Gridley, CA where he helped his family harvest almonds and walnuts. Gordon graduated from
Gridley High then attended the University of California-Davis, receiving a degree in art. Gordon
was a gourmet chef and especially enjoyed cooking Thanksgiving dinner. He was also an avid
gardener who specialized in growing tomatoes. As a master carpenter, he built stairs in many
homes in Marin County, California. Gordon played the trumpet and guitar and had a lovely
baritone singing voice. He spoke Spanish fluently and spent time living in Spain. Gordon was
also an animal lover who had many dogs and cats in his life. Gordon served as Master of
Kaibab Lodge #25 in Salt Lake City and was a member of Wasatch Presbyterian Church.
Gordon is survived by his daughter, Jana Waagen(Aaron), former wife, Jane Hereim,
brother, Mark (Karen), sisters, Sharon Lawrence ( Dirk Singletary), Lisl Gaylord (Garth), Ingrid
Phippen (David), sister-in-law, Betty Ann Vencill, and many nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by his parents and brother, Sherwood Lawrence.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in California. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests donations to Shriners Children’s, or Wasatch Presbyterian Church.
