Hazel "June" Baker Latimer, age 92, died 11 February 2015 from complication resulting from a tragic fall. How timely to be reunited with her sweetheart Walt around Valentine's day.
June was born 5 March 1922 in Salt Lake City to John Murdock Baker and Helen Margarette Aller. She was the only daughter born to this couple. She had an older brother that died at birth and a younger brother Jack Aller Baker who she adored as a child.
June attended Henager's Business College so she could get a good job. June was a loving daughter and sister and helped her parents and brother through many difficult times.
June met her sweetheart, James Walton "Walt" Latimer, Jr., when she was 17 years old. They married on 29 November 1942 in Yuma, Arizona, two weeks before World War II broke out. Her sweetheart Walt spent 4 years in the Pacific Arena, engaged in many battles, but was always protected and blessed and able to return home so they could begin a family consisting of two sons, James Walton "Jim" Latimer III, John Baker Latimer and one daughter, Maranna "Lynn" Latimer. June and Walt were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on 29 November 1983 which was on their 41st anniversary.
June served with many Sorority charity programs including numerous sub-for-Santa drives. She enjoyed the service and the friendships she made while attending her Sorority groups.
Over the years June worked for Safeway Grocery Store and Brunswig Drug Company. After the death of her husband Walt she owned and operated an antique shop named "Due Time." June would want to go on a trip and Walt would always say in "all in due time" Junie in "all in due time", thus the name she coined for her shop. She loved the work and stayed in the shop well into her 80s. She loved working with the public and getting a "good deal" - definitely amazing sales skills which she passed on to her daughter and grandson.
June said in a few years ago- "I love all three of my children, my five grandchildren, my two dogs, my one cat and my aquarium of fish". June loved her family and animals very much.
June was preceded in death by parents John and Helen, husband Walt, younger brother Jack, oldest son Jim, granddaughter Trenie Lyn Latimer and a great-grandson, Griffin Amari Latimer. Survived by son John, daughter Lynn, daughter-in-law Debbie Latimer; 4 grandchildren: Jimmy (Aimee) Latimer; Jeremy Latimer (who she helped raise); Kenny (Amy) Baxter; Patrick Latimer; 10 great-grandchildren.
Cremation will take place. A family memorial will be held on a future date at the gravesite located in Larkin Sunset Gardens, Sandy UT, where her ashes will be deposited next to her husband.
