Jacob Ryan Gallup passed away on June 4th, 2025, at the young age of 33 after a courageous and faith-filled battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Jacob was born on July 2nd, 1991, in Torrance, California to Mark and Elana Gallup. The youngest of four children, he completed their family and was dearly loved by his older siblings Jeremy, Tashina, and Kira.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jacob served a mission in Washington, D.C. South. His faith anchored him through both joyful and difficult times in life.
He later earned his degree as an X-ray technician and completed EMT training. At the time of his passing, he was working as a custodian at Granger High School — a role he took great pride in, known for his quiet, dependable presence, and kind heart.
On August 2nd, 2013, Jacob married Jeanette Jueschke. Though they later divorced, together they share a son, David James, who was the light of Jacob’s life. He was a proud and loving father — a playful, steady, and devoted presence in David’s world. Nothing brought Jacob more joy than being “Dad.” He will be deeply missed by his little buddy.
Jacob had a gentle soul, a quick wit, and a heart full of kindness. He was known for his loyalty, his love for nature, his compassion for others, and his deep spiritual strength. He brought calm into the lives of those around him and had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen and safe.
Jacob is survived by his son, David James Gallup; his parents, Mark and Elana Gallup; his siblings Jeremy (Chari) Gallup, Tashina Gallup, and Kira (Layne) Robinson; his grandmother Diane Gage; many aunts and uncles; and his dearly loved nieces and nephews: Sadie, Jaxton, Lincoln, Grayson, Raistlin, and Nova.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Leo Gallup, Sharon Gallup, and Norman Gage.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 14th, 2025, at 12:00 PM at the meetinghouse of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 7580 Abbotsbury Lane, West Jordan, Utah 84084.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the Bernard family for lovingly caring for Jacob in their home during the final 18 months of his life. Special thanks also to the compassionate doctors, nurses, hospice team, and staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, as well as neighbors, friends, and ward members who offered their support and prayers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a trust fund for Jacob’s son, David, to help carry forward the love and care Jacob always showed him. If you wish to do so please Venmo @jeremygallup6 with a note “For David.”
