

“Together Again”
Montana Neeley passed away peacefully after celebrating the 4th of July 2012 surrounded by her children Tana and Richard and other loved ones.
She was born Aug. 24, 1919 to Frank Christian and Mabel Reed Torkelson. Her older brother Bob was soon outnumbered by two more sisters Helen and Florence. Montana married her high school sweetheart, Richard Cox Neeley, March 27, 1942. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Las Vegas LDS Temple on her 72nd birthday.
Montana enjoyed gardening and had more than 150 rose bushes. She also loved being with her family, friends, dogs, painting, crocheting, knitting, quilting, traveling, playing Mah Jongg, cross word puzzles, writing letters, thank you notes and eating chocolate. She had a quick wit that was enjoyed by everyone. When asked how she was doing she would say," Well, I'm breathing in and out." Family and friends received quilts and aphgans from her talented hands.
She graduated from South High in 1936 and the University of Utah in 1940 carrying 2 majors and 3 minors. Montana received her Master’s Degree and worked at LDS Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital in San Francisco. She spent the rest of her life as a loving wife of an Air Force Officer and a great mother.
Montana is survived by her children, brother in law James P. Neeley (Betty), many nieces, nephews, friends and 2 faithful 4 legged companions Anakin and Otie.
She has gone to help her husband prepare another home for the family as they have done all their lives in the Air Force. "We love you and will miss you Mother Dear."
Her funeral will be held in Las Vegas Tuesday July 10th at 12 noon. Montana's service will be held in Salt Lake at 2:00 p.m. in the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive where family and friends may call at 1:00p.m. Interment will be in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
