The Kindest Man We’ve Ever Known
“Pops”
Jerry Leroy Bauman, age 75, passed away at the home of his daughter on February 24, 2010 after a short, 3-month battle with stomach cancer. Jerry was preceded in death by his loving wife and soul mate, Joanne Savas, his parents William and Nora Bauman, his brothers Doug and Bill, and his sister Phyllis. He is survived by his daughter Jeri Lynn Judkins, sons Mike (Tammy) and Tom, sisters Jean and Clara, and his grandchildren Michael, Jenna, Jaylynn, Nicholas, and Toni as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends, all of whom he loved so much.
Jerry was still working full-time at the Department of Alcohol & Beverage Control for the state of Utah. He loved his job, but more than that he loved being with his friends at the DABC, they made him laugh, they made work fun, they brought him joy. Other great sources of happiness for Jerry were his Thursday night “dinner gang” and the time he spent with his children and grandchildren, working in his garden, and having a cold beer or glass of wine with his friends.
He will be remembered for his easy-going, positive attitude, his great sense of humor, his generosity, and for the millions of little things he did to brighten the lives of those around him. Jerry was a man who, simply by his kindness, touched so many hearts, helped so many people, shouldered so many burdens, and brought laughter to everyone around him. There just aren’t enough words to summarize a life that meant so much to so many people.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Monday, March 1, 2010 at Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church, 5335 Highland Drive. A viewing will be held at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive Sunday evening from 6-8:00pm, with a prayer service (Trisagion) at 7:30pm.
From your sons Mike & Tom: Dad, thank you for always being there for us.
From your daughter Jeri Lynn: You are my hero Dad. I will carry you in my heart forever.
We love you. Your memory will be eternal.
