Joe passed away peacefully at home on October 5, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He fought with both dignity and humor. He was born on January 16, 1949 to Dale Parkinson and Sally Richards Parkinson, in Ogden, UT.
He is survived by his partner and best friend, Ken Jarrell, and his three daughters, Wendy Parkinson, Jodi and Matt Harker and Shanna and Mike Shaw. He had four grandchildren whom he adored, Elizabeth, Gavin, Samantha and Alex. He is also survived by his three sisters, Shari and Steve Whitworth, Jill and Tim vomDorp and Susan and Rick Trapp as well as many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Keith.
Joe enjoyed spending time with family, boating, water skiing, traveling and gardening. He was an accomplished piano and organ player. He spent much of his time where he loved to be - his cabin. Joe will be deeply missed but will be remembered for his infectious laugh, his sense of humor and how he could turn any event into a party.
A special ‘thank you’ to Dr. Avizonas, Dr. Brose and Dr. Garner for their compassionate care.
